Just the best!! Thanks for such a fun positive article on the front page. So great to see local families having fun on Marco.... this is what life is all about!

I totally agree with your description of the corporate evaluation process. I was in banking for many years and this was the exact procedure we followed. Goals and objectives were decided upon for the upcoming year as part of the current year's review. We were held accountable for both fiscal growth and our personal relationships with staff and the community in general. An exceptional review would only merit a 5% increase at most.

This is absolutely ridiculous! Sounds like a third world dictatorship, just done with less bloodshed. Although to a limited income population which is being taxed to death to support 'big business' interests, this is a very real financial burden. Marco was meant to be a family community, not an amusement park like Miami or Vegas! Our infrastructure was not built to support this. We are stewards of the ecosystem of our beautiful beaches and bays. Who better to watch over them than citizens with local residents' interests in mind, not catering to big business growth!

I may not have read all the comments made by both CARES and POP representatives, but those I have seen seem to be of a civil and intelligent tone. I can't say that about most of the 'statis quo' respondents.
I do agree that in any type of parlimentary procedure a coucil member should be able to make a motion, have it seconded and then added to an agenda for a future vote. It would seem that the Council would want to have this controversy resolved once and for all and a vote by the majority of the residents would accomplish that.

I am not sure that John Putnam is totally off base here. One way to make a positive statement about Marco is to attend meetings, Council or otherwise and show positive support for our home. It would be great if we all could listen to each other with patience and also trust our elected officials to follow the wishes of their constituents. WE are all stewards of this Paradise and how we treat each other in person and in the press will go a long way in setting a positive example for our children and a welcome experience for our guests as well.

Since Hideaway is essentially a private beach with no easy access to the public, why would anyone consider using the general resident's and vacationers' dollars to increase the property values of a chosen few. If they want the money than at least allow an access road and parking to the residents of Marco!
