Dual distinction
Local interior design specialist Kira Krumm has notched up dual awards for her work on a high end condo in the Madeira high rise on Marco Island.
At a recent function hosted by the American Society for Interior Design Florida South Chapter, Krumm picked up a design excellence award for the Madeira project.
The category was for a luxury residence under 5,000 square feet.
In addition, the project also reaped a Sand Dollar award for best interior design from the Collier Building Industry Association.
This category was for a single family attached private residence priced between $2.5 and $3.5 million.
Describing the awards as rewarding, Krumm made a point of singling out the talents of her associates, Erin Carlin and Megan Rozin.
Building on confidence
With about $70 million invested in spec homes and land acquisition alone, the developers of Treviso Bay near Marco Island have announced commitment to a major, 120-acre future development parcel.
“Considering that it was made at the heart of one of the greatest real estate slumps this country has ever known, this level of investment on the part of our builders is remarkable,” said development principal Sanjay Kuttemperoor in a release.
Treviso Bay is a 1,050 acre golf resort-lifestyle community and will be anchored by a PGA Tour TPC Golf Course scheduled to be open for member play this December.
The clubhouse should open in the fall of 2010.
Upon completion, the entire development will have about 1,200 residences. Its demographic is primarily for people in their 40s and 50s.
House visit
Medicine and health care issues come under the spotlight at the next In the Round monthly informational series sponsored by Orion Bank.
On hand at the Oct. 29 session will be Dr. Robert M. Korolevic, a family practice physician who is also on the staff at NCH and Physician’s Regional Hospital.
Among his topics will be new trends in medicine, serving a practice with thousands of patients, anti-aging and functional medicine, and comments on the hypothesis: Is traditional private practice dead?
The usual ice-breaker begins at 6:30 p.m., with the talk from 7 to about 8 p.m., and questions thereafter.
Booking should be made by calling 403-5169.
Art for opening day
With its official opening just two days away, Big Cypress Market Place has included a juried, multi-media fine art exhibition to add to the festivities.
The 20-piece exhibit features works by members of the Art League, Marco Island’s Center for the Arts, and was coordinated and installed at the market’s Artisans Corner by the Marco Island Center for the Arts.
The exhibit focuses on a variety of “ … scapes” such as landscapes, seascapes, skyscapes, dreamscapes, cityscapes … and escapes. A multitude of mediums are exhibited, including oils, acrylic, pastel, watercolor, collage and mixed media.
Merrymaking at the marina
Cedar Bay Yacht Club will host a cookout party from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., Oct. 25, to raise funds for the Marco Island Fire Rescue Foundation.
The Saturday festivities will feature singing duo Heart to Heart. The public is welcome to come by sea or by land.
Food is free, but donations are requested, while beer and wine will be available at $2.
Local firefighters will be on hand as well.
