According to a notice from the City of Marco Island, On Thursday, North Collier Boulevard and Bald Eagle Drive will be milled. Milling is the process where the existing road surface is removed by machine to expose the road base. The old material is ground into small chunks by the machine and removed. The milling process is used for road surface profiling to eliminate wash board surfaces which result from folds in the road surface. This creates a more even riding surface.

After the completion of the milling the final paving on Collier Boulevard will begin. Paving will occur between Holly Court north to the end of the millings on North Collier Boulevard. Bald Eagle will also be paved. The anticipated completion day is scheduled to be on or before May 28.

This work will require some lane shifts and lane closures; however there are no anticipated detours scheduled. Drivers on Collier Boulevard should anticipate delays, approach cautiously, drive slowly, and obey all flagmen for their own safety.
