The sale of Marco Island water and sewer utility systems, owned by Deltona Corp., to Collier County is under serious negotiations, according to County Commissioner John Pistor of Marco Island. “Deltona has agreed to sell the water and sewer utility company and we are negotiating at this time,” Pistor said. A meeting is planned with William O’Dowd Jr., Deltona senior executive vice-president and Arsenio Millana, Deltona Utilities vice president, for May 15 or 16, Irving Berzon, County Utilities director, said. The major issue is price.

A rash of burglaries which have plagued Marco island homes appears to be solved. According to County Sheriff’s Department Investigator Sgt. Bryon Tomlinson, a Hollywood man, Ronald Jamison, 26, has been arrested, which may be the first step in clearing up 17 island burglaries believed to be committed by the same group of burglars.

A major repaving and improvement program for North Collier Boulevard is slated when the Florida Department of Transportation accepts a major section of it as a state road. The takeover is scheduled for June 1, according to County Commissioner John Pistor. The first repaving is to be done from the toll bridge to San Marco Road, a distance of about three miles. Work is to begin once the Deltona Corp. construction crews complete two ground-level bridges, connecting Clam Bay and Caribbean Waterway. The bridges are to be done by the latter part of September.
