Carly Sharbaugh is a 10th grader at Lorenzo Walker, where she has a 4.4 GPA, belongs to the Scholar’s Club, the Book Club and works on the school’s yearbook. She is a great reader, presently enjoying fantasy novels and texts about mental disorders. Carly has been a Girl Scout for seven years, and this is her fourth year selling cookies. She waited patiently outside of the Publix in Berkshire Commons, knowing that if she brings the Girl Scout Cookies, they will come. She is with Troop 2083 C-2 council.

Which cookie is your personal favorite? Why?

I like the All-About (Thanks-a-Lot). It’s a simple cookie, and you can add chocolate to anything for me.

Why does everybody love Girl Scout Cookies?

There is something for everybody. You can get rid of the guilt with the fact that the money is going to a good cause. The donations we receive go into buying boxes of cookies — that won’t melt — and are sent to troops overseas. With the funds that our troop raises from cookies sales, we decide on a place we want to go on a trip.

Where have you been, and what do you want to do this year?

We’ve been to Disney, Busch Gardens, Nickelodeon Hotel; the slime was fun — and Islands of Adventure Water Park. I don’t really like the water; I’d like to go to Busch Gardens again.

Are you a big desert eater? What things do you like best?

I’m not really a big desert person. I like chocolate; dark chocolate is best. It’s not as sweet. The best thing is chocolate covered strawberries; it’s not just sugar, it has fruit.

Do you ever bake your own?

Chocolate chip is my favorite. Around Christmas I make snickerdoodles and gingerbread. It’s not as sugary and I like the cinnamon.

Do you mind having to sit here all day selling cookies?

No, not really. I brought homework, in case we weren’t too busy.
