Nacho Mama’s crept one game closer to Cocomo’s in the City Softball league with a win last week. Nacho Mama’s edged DaVinci’s, 6-4, moving its record to 11-3, one game behind 12-2 Cocomo’s.

Santo Gentile rapped out three hits, while Tony Olivero and Jimmy Sheldon had two hits each for Nacho Mama’s. Mike Graczyk contributed three hits and Damien Shadrick two for DaVinci’s.

In another close game, St. Mark’s Episcopal Church solidified its hold on third place with a 4-0 win over Sand Bar. In a low-hitting game, Donny Montroy led St. Mark’s with two hits, while Patrick Baldwin and Jeff Madenford added a hit each. Jed Ebersole, Kurt Busch and Tom Rozankowski had one hit each for Sand Bar.

Both teams swung the lumber in Capt. Brien’s 18-11 win over Almost Famous Mel’s. Capt. Brien’s was led by Kyle Prevett’s four hits, while Jerry Bonfitto, Ricky Hart, Joe Valencic, Jordan Weatherbee, Liam Dillon and Kevin Sullivan added two hits each.

On Thursday, Cocomo’s plays Capt. Brien’s at 6 p.m., followed by Almost Famous Mel’s and DaVinci’s at 7:15 and Nacho Mama’s against Sand Bar at 8:30.

League standings are: Cocomo’s, 12-2, Nacho Mama’s, 11-3, St. Mark’s, 8-6, DaVinci’s, 5-7-1, Mel’s 5-10, Capt. Brien’s, 4-11-1 and Sand Bar, 3-11.
