Charter School plans car show
The 2nd annual Marco Island Charter Middle School Car Show, featuring outstanding collector cars, is 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday on school grounds at 1401 Trinidad Avenue. Some of the most amazing collector cars from this area will be on display.
Last year, the event attracted nearly 100 cars, along with hundreds of spectators.
Principal George Abounader, and the school board gave the go ahead for the show since the first car show was a success, he said of the fundraiser.
Organizers of the car show are busy taking care of details for this Saturday.
Island Café owners, Bill and Susan Baumler, will volunteer their time to cook at the event. Food and drinks may be purchased at the school.
Some of the car clubs that have agreed to display their cars are West Coast Muscle Car Club, Cool Cruisers of Southwest Florida, and the Naples/Marco branch of the Antique Auto Club of America. Also expected to return are many local car owners, eager to show their cars for the good of local students.
The event is free and there’s no car-owner registration fee. A 50/50 raffle will be held each hour. Donation sites will be located around the school campus to contribute to the continued success of this A+ school.
Additional parking is available at the Tommie Barfield Elementary campus. If necessary, a rain date will be Sunday. For more information, contact Mark Albanese at the school at 377-3211.
