Hogan, Reisinger lead Charter in track

The Marco Island Charter Middle School track and field team went up against the Goliaths and the girls showed the most improvement.
It was the second Collier County Middle Schools Track and Field Meet on Saturday at Golden Gate High School where the Charter girls came in third.
Manatee Middle won with 95 points, edging Golden Gate with 91, while Charter School tallied 46 points to nip East Naples with 42.
The boys finished fourth, far behind winner Manatee, Golden Gate and East Naples.
Charter’s Katie Hogan again shined, winning the shot put, placing second in the 400 and being part of the 4x100 relay team that finished third.
Charter’s Sara Reisinger won the 3200-meter jaunt and was fifth in the 1600. Amanda Para was second in the 3200.
Charter’s Mary Ellen Morris was fourth in the 400 and the discus. She joined Hogan, Amanda Marinaro and Cassidy Penzo for the 4x100 relay team’s strong finish.
Cassie Malouta ran to fifth place in the 1600, while Katie Sanford was filth in the long jump.
The best finish for the boys was a fourth in the 4x400 relay.
Zach Halischak was fifth and Christian VanBoven sixth in the discus. Zane Staar was fifth and Stefan Langebeeke sixth in the 3200.
“The county schools have an advantage in size and there is no other sport competing for their talent,” Charter coach Roger Raymond said. “We have baseball, girls soccer, tennis, golf and track at Charter.”
