DaVinci’s eyeing third in City softball

DaVinci’s has had an up-and-down season, but still is eyeing third place in the City Men’s Softball League.

DaVinci’s helped itself by defeating third-place St. Mark’s 12-7, to move within two games of third. Mike Grazcyk slammed out four hits and Damien Shadrick, Joe DiSciullo and Eric Smith knocked two hits each to lead DaVinci’s. Donny Montroy and Tim Dillingham slapped out two hits each for St. Mark’s.

The 1-2 teams, Cocomo’s and Nacho Mama’s, each won.

Cocomo’s shut out Almost Famous Mel’s, 12-0, while Nacho Mama’s sank Capt. Brien’s, 20-4.

Rich Busch, Mike Watkins, Jon Stillwagon, Neal Alberry and Dave Rice Jr. rapped out two hits each for Cocomo’s, while Chris Hadek and Pat McGuire got the lone hits for Mel’s.

Zach Luetkemeyer led the big bats of Nacho Mama’s with five hits, Steve Pahr slammed out four hits, including a home run, and Greg Curry, Tony Oliverio and Jimmy Sheldon added three hits each.

Ricky Hart and Chris Burt led Capt. Brien’s with two hits each.

Cocomo’s leads the league with a 12-2 mark, followed by Nacho Mama’s, 10-3, St. Mark’s 7-6, DaVinci’s, 5-6, Mel’s, 5-9, Capt. Brien’s, 3-11 and Sand Bar, 3-10.

On Thursday, Sand Bar plays St. Mark’s at 6 p.m., DaVinci’s plays Nacho Mama’s at 7:15 and Capt. Brien’s meets Mel’s at 8:30.
