The Lady Eagles soccer and boys baseball teams opened their season with mixed results.
In varsity action the girls tied First Baptist Academy, 1-1, while the boys lost to Seacrest, 16-3. Both JV teams won.
Coming off a 3-1 record in the Collier County Middle School Soccer League, Amanda Lopez continued her scoring spree, getting the lone goal for the Lady Eagles.
“Natascha Schenk played her heart out,” coach Jackie Sauter said. “Two new goalies also stepped up. Katie Roche and Liana Criscuoli played awesome for their first time in the goal.”
The JV girls won, 3-0. Claudine Bolsen slammed in two goals and Joan Nguyen scored the other.
“Awesome defense was played by Catherine Remaks and great stops and goalie punts were done by Franchesca Archacki.
“The varsity boys just made too many mistakes, committing six errors and four passed balls that allowed 10 unearned runs,” manager Alex Galiana said.
“The Eagles did have six hits, but four of them came in the last at-bat when the game was pretty much over,” he added.
The JVs did much better. Jeff Leonia rapped out three hits, including a home run and double. Greg Trzyna had two hits, including a double and Sean Lampos pitched great, Galiana said.
