Darryl Lynn “D. L.” Hughley will be on a special comic engagement this Friday through Sunday at Captain Brien’s Off The Hook Comedy Club.

The American actor, born March 6, 1963, is a popular stand-up comedian and star of the television 1998-2002 sitcom The Hughleys on ABC and then on UPN.

He was the original host of ComicView, a stand-up comedy show on BET.

D. L. Hughley is a member of The Original Kings of Comedy and was the host of the 2008 BET Awards.

He crossed over into movies by co-starring in the movie “The Brothers” (2001) and being the voice of the Gadgetmobile in the movie “Inspector Gadget” (1999). He has had supporting roles in “Chasing Papi” (2003), “Scary Movie 3” (2003), and “Soul Plane” (2004).

Hughley’s shows are scheduled for 8 and 10 p.m. on Friday; 7, 9 and 11 p.m. on Saturday and 9:30 p.m. on Sunday. Tickets are $30. For reservations call 389-6900.
