Another exciting week of camp comes to a close at the Greater Marco YMCA.
It was ‘Olympic Week” at the Greater Marco “Y” and Camp Eagle Lakes. Games and activities included making relay torches, Paintball throw, noodle and crab walk relays and, of course, the ever popular “Wacky Olympics” The events included the 100 meter dash, whipped cream Pie eating contest, Jump Rope, Hula Hoops, Limbo, Frisbee toss, Basketball free throw and soccer.
The camp at Eagle Lakes Olympic Week activities included Balloon Orchestra, Broom Twizzle, Blindfold Trust Run and the ever popular steal the Bacon.
It was “Sci-Fi” week at Manatee Summer Camp and activities included making our own spaceship, playing the super hero version of who am I and other activities based on popular Sci-Fi TV shows and movies.
Are you aware that over 500 children are impacted by the Greater Marco YMCA each week at the 3 summer camps? Specialty camps this week include Junior Tennis and Theater Camp. The Theater Camp production is “Hercules” and today is dress rehearsal. I can’t wait to see this production!
Registration continues for the final production of Theater Camp in August with the play The Producers scheduled.
Wednesday was Open House at Manatee Summer Camp. Thank you to all who came and toured our facility. The kids were real happy to see all of the visitors.
Next week is week 8 of summer camp. Also Session 2 of Leadership training is scheduled. Registration continues for this program and also for Zoo Camp, British Challenge Soccer, All Skills Volleyball, Advanced Guitar, Camp Rock and Strength Training.
