San Marco Road lane closure
Traffic on San Marco Road is temporarily reduced from two lanes to one lane, on portions of the road between Copperfield Court and Heathwood Drive. Delays through this area should be expected, according to a city-prepared press release.
“For the most today I’ve only seen maybe 10 cars backed up today,” said Project Manager Jim Miller.
The traffic pattern will be maintained for approximately one month while sewer mains and laterals are installed beneath San Marco Road.
A flagman will be present to guide the flow of traffic around the construction zone. Residents using Hickory, Primrose, Lamplighter and all connecting streets should make sure to obey the flagman when entering San Marco Road, according to the press release.
The temporary one-lane traffic should be anticipated during the day and two-way traffic will be restored nightly. Miller said the partial lane closures will occur between 7 a.m. and 7 p.m., Monday through Saturday.
Motorists are encouraged to use Collier Boulevard and Winterberry Drive as alternate travel routes during the day.
Upon completion of the work, the trenches on San Marco will be filled with asphalt. The complete road asphalt overlay will be applied at the very end of the project.
