MARCO ISLAND Police arrested a 48-year-old Marco Island woman Monday afternoon after they say she shot two doors in her home with a revolver, and then held the gun to her head on her front lawn.
Carys Mai Hanifin, 85 Southseas Court, was charged with improper exhibition of a firearm.
Around 3:05 p.m. a Marco Island police officer arrived at Hanifin’s home and found her holding a revolver to her head and arguing with a man, whose name was not released, according to an arrest report. Hanifin refused officers’ orders to put the gun down.
After about 10 minutes Hanifin did put the gun down and was arrested, reports said.
Police found two bullet holes in the front door and a third in the door to the master bedroom.

My thoughts and prayers go out to the Hannifin family. They are a good solid family and I hope Mai gets the help she needs.

Mai and her family are good people. Everyone has a breaking point. We tend to shun anything mental, mainly because we are so quick to judge, especially with things we don't understand or simply are not aware. Please know there are people out there that do understand and are willing to help in any way we can. Unfortunately children are victimized in situations like this and my thoughts and prayers are with the whole family. Just know you will not be shunned or avoided by the people that understand and care. And you truly will know now who your true friends are. Been there. Take good care, everything will be better soon...with help from those who care.
