What a jam-packed schedule of activities is included in the YMCA fall program! Kamal Farhat is back from the 2008 Summer Olympic games in Beijing, China, and he is ready to instruct the adults in the Morning Aquatics Swim program, the afterschool swim program for grades one through sixth, and the fall gymnastics for ages 3 to 16.
Because of the TV coverage of the Olympic games, everyone is interested in these sporting events, which means these programs will be well-attended. So sign up you and/or your child today!
Cheerleading instructor Nicole Wood will offer three types of cheerleading classes after school on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday. Students will learn to jump/cheer/dance on Tuesday, stunts on Wednesday and cheer dance on Thursday.
Class time is 3:30 to 4:30 p.m.
“Little kickers” indoor soccer, for ages 3 to 5, will be held on Saturdays starting Sept.18 with instructor Vince Iorio. A new indoor co-ed soccer league for grades K through fifth will be offered at the “Y.”
Assessments for the league are scheduled for Aug. 29 with league play starting Sept. 12.
The adult co-ed volleyball league is back with games scheduled to begin on Oct. 1 and each Wednesday through November. Sponsor fee is $325 or individual players may sign up for $75. This league is open to players aged 16 and up. A team consists of four players minimum and 11 players maximum per roster.
Tennis Director Connie announced her Junior Tennis schedule for Sept, October and November. There are four programs available from ages 4 and up. Also there is the junior and adult round robin programs available and Cardiac Tennis for those interested in the fitness aspect of the game.

In the Aquatics dept., swim lessons with Miss Dottie are scheduled for Sept. 2 to 12, Oct. 6 to 16 and Oct. 27 to Nov. 6.
Other programs available include morning aquatics, Afterschool Swim Team, private swim lessons and YMCA Pool Rental.
There are still openings available for SCUBA and Snorkel class certification. Aerobic classes are scheduled throughout the week. Various classes include water aerobics at the pool and Tai- Chi beginner and advanced.

The ASPIRE afterschool program is off to a good start and there is always room for more.
Y Reads! a volunteer driven program that helps kids read, needs you! Only one hour a week is all we ask to mentor a child.

Fitness assessments and personal trainers are available to you at the “Y.” \
Skate lessons are still available at the skate park and open skating Monday through Friday is from 6 to 8 p.m. Free to members and only $5 for others.
Check at the “Y” for open gym times indoors or outside in the Airnasium.
The Greater Marco Family YMCA will be closed on Labor Day.
September is “Member Get a Member” month. Bring a friend to the “Y” and when they join, both of you will receive a great looking YMCA Gym Bag.
Upcoming programs at the “Y” will include cycling and youth and adult socials.
The “Y” is now hiring for “Child Watch.” Morning and afternoon shifts available.
A site director for Manatee Elementary and YMCA Main campus is needed. If you are interested, please stop by the Customer Service desk for an application.
