Boaters now have an alternative to fumbling for change or coming up short on cash to pay boat launch and parking fees at Bayview Park in East Naples and at the Collier Boulevard boat launch.

Collier County has installed automated payment machines at the two parks that will accept credit cards, debit cards with Visa or MasterCard logos and cash, parks spokeswoman Camden Smith said. The solar-powered machines will issue a receipt to be displayed on a vehicle's dashboard.

The cost to launch a boat without an annual permit is $5. Parking without a beach sticker is $6. Annual recreational boat launch permits cost $75 and can be purchased at any county park. The boat launch permits are prorated as the year progresses. Launching a boat without an annual permit or daily receipt carries a $35 fine.

Collier County is proposing to install more credit card payment machines at beach access points at the South Marco park, Clam Pass park and Barefoot Beach.
