Lely High had double winners for boys and girls teams in the Class 3A-District 12 track and field meet, Apr. 17, at Ida Baker in Cape Coral.

Double winners Manolitha Joseph and Victoria Howard led the girls team to a second place finish, while Fortin Faustin won twice to lead the boys to a fourth-place finish.

Joseph won the 100-meter race in 12.41 seconds, then came back to win the 200 in 24.91, the best time in the state this year. She finished third in the long jump and also was part of the 4x100 relay team that finished third.

Howard won the long jump with a school record jump of 17-10 1/2 inches and the triple jump, leaping 35-10 1/2 inches. Howard also was on the 4x100 relay team and finished fifth in the shot put.

Joanne Pettithomme won the 300-meter hurdles in 47.8, while she was also part of the 4x100 relay team.

Da-Anna Paul jumped a foot farther than her previous best, coming in second in the triple jump at 32-3. She also was part of the 4x100 relay team.

Lindsey Bottt soared to victory in the pole vault, going 9-6.

Amber Imm raced to second in the 3200 and third in the 1600.

“When I passed out the ribbons on Friday I spoke of how we won six of 17 events, but I also praised the girls that stepped up, gaining more points,” girls coach Nick Young said. “Manolitha and Victoria were supposed to win, Joanne was supposed to win, but Lindsey did her personal best to win.

“Victoria came in fifth in the shot put, Kreda Reseau, a sophomore, gained a point in the shot and Andrene Dume was fourth in the 300. We scored points down the line that got us to second.”

For the boys, Faustin kept his unbeaten streak in the long jump alive, going 22-1. He also won the 300 hurdles in 40.07.

His brother Johnny was third in the long jump and second in the triple jump.

The Faustins were joined by Emerson Joseph and Jarrel Olviera to place third in the 4x400. Fortin Faustin, Darien Hall, Veintimilla and McKenzie Pierre combined to finish second in the 4x800. Finishing fourth in the 4x800 were Johnny Williamceau, Sam Walker, Emerson Joseph and Patrick Hilarie.
