Fate of Alligator Alley on table at Orlando meeting
Florida Department of Transportation officials are floating the idea of leasing Alligator Alley to a private entity, with a meeting Thursday in Orlando to court investors.
The meeting, held hundreds of miles from the alley, drew the ire of Collier County officials last week when they learned of how far away it was occurring.
Upwards of 125 contractors were anticipated to attend the meeting, billed as an “industry forum” by the FDOT. It took place from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. at the Buena Vista Palace Hotel in Lake Buena Vista, just outside Orlando.
Staff writer Leslie Williams attended the forum. Check back at marconews.com or read Wednesday’s edition of the Eagle to find out what happened.
