After a quirky error blew Lely’s three-run lead against Immokalee in the top of the fifth, the Trojans bounced right back.

Casey Jandro’s double gave Lely back the lead, and Ryan Leonard followed with a two-run single, and the Trojans went on to an 8-3 victory in the first round of the Class 4A-District 12 tournament at Golden Gate on Monday.

Lely (5-14) meets the top-seeded Titans in the semifinals tonight at 7. Naples and Palmetto Ridge face off in the other semifinal at 4.

Lely’s Ian Tanner pitched a complete game and didn’t give up an earned run.

Jandro and Leonard each had three hits, and Leonard finished with four RBI. Anthony Russo and Luis Carmona added two hits apiece.

“We played really solid,’’ Lely coach Mike Miller said. “We had one really weird play with the bases loaded that was an error.’’

And that was in the Immokalee fifth. The shortstop’s throw short-hopped the first baseman and the ball popped up in the air. By the time the ball stopped rolling and a throwing error later, the Indians had tied the game at 3-3.

“We came back the next inning and just took control of the game again,’’ Miller said.
