Work on the third phase of the Collier Boulevard expansion project is progressing swimmingly, said city Project Engineer Tim Pinter.
Quality Enterprises, the contractor for the project, is working to have the portion between the Smokehouse Bay bridge and Elkcam Circle finished before Christmas.
• Budget? $9.9 million
• On budget? Yes
• Completion date? Dec. 23
• On schedule? The contractor is a little off, Pinter said, but it can be difficult to measure how significant that is. “Yes, they are behind, but totally, I don’t know if we can say they’re behind schedule because all we give them is an end date,” he said.
• What are they doing now? Workers are finishing the landscaping between Century Court and the Smokehouse Bay bridge, a portion that was left over from Phase II, which was largely completed last year. On the newest portion to be under construction, from the bridge to Elkcam Circle, workers are installing force and water mains in addition to storm drains up to Bald Eagle Drive.
• What will they do next? They will do those same installations between Bald Eagle Drive and Elkcam Circle.
