The Marco Island Police Department’s days in their current headquarters are numbered — major construction on the site has been completed and employees can start looking forward to moving out of the 3,000 square foot space into which the 40 person department is currently crammed.

The new building will feature a new community meeting room, holding cells, an interviewing room and an emergency operations center.

Budget? $3.7 million

On budget? Yes.

Completion date? June 2007

On schedule? Yes, all construction on the building is finished.

What are they doing now? Site work, such as landscaping.

What will they do next? Obtain the certificate of occupancy, which city officials hope will allow public meetings to move from Mackle Park into the new meeting room in July. City council meetings should move sometime in August.

Great job ,but really couldn't we have saved money and used the city hall building by adding an addition to the buildingand leave Bald Eagle the way it was ,also does not look to pleasing from San Marco road looks to commercial, maybe we can spend some more money for landscape .

I think the building looks great! That Dave Baer guy has done a great job overlooking the building process.
