The private island of Key Marco will open its gates for visitors on Dec. 16, from 1 to 4 p.m. Three estate homes are decorated for the holidays for the Marco Island Christmas Decoration Contest and will be open to the public, free of charge.

Key Marco is a private, gated island community with only 134 home sites on 546 acres, one estate for every four acres. The seclusion and beauty of the island with its stately homes makes this area a desirable retreat for the wealthy in Southwest Florida.

The first home open for the holiday tour is the Bella Vista, a grand masterpiece furnished with Mediterranean elegance, set in absolute privacy, with over 7,100 square feet of living area. This beautiful estate home has stunning views in every direction of the Ten Thousand Islands, Barfield Bay, Blue Hill Bay and the Marco Island skyline.

The second stop on the tour is the Hamilton, an elegant West Indies style home built directly on Barfield Bay with breathtaking views. Many fine appointments can be found throughout this 5,700 square foot home.

The third house is the Casa Del Mar, a European style home with over 6,300 square feet of living area with pristine views of Barfield Bay and the Ten Thousand Islands.

This waterfront community offers tennis and fitness facilities in addition to boat docks which afford direct access to the Gulf.

To enjoy the festivities, on Marco Island take State Road 951 South (Collier Boulevard) to San Marco Road. Take a left onto San Marco Road and continue for two miles to Key Marco where you will turn right. Maps to each home will be found at the guard gate.
