A San Carlos Park man has been arrested on charges he passed counterfeit American Express gift checks at several Miromar Outlets stores, authorities said.
According to the Lee County Sheriff's Office, 24-year-old Clayton Meeker paid with fraudulent checks at Ultra Diamonds and Ecko Unlimited before he was caught last week in the act at the Timberland store.
Meeker, who had a fake identification card on him when he was arrested, faces multiple charges of forgery and grand theft, among other things, authorities said.
