Steamy day ahead with chance of storms

Southwest Florida could see storms and triple-digit heat today.

Scattered showers and thunderstorms are expected to move in after 11 a.m., the National Weather Service reports.

Temperatures are expected to climb to 91 degrees today with a heat index as high as 100 degrees. The relative humidity will be at 69 percent with winds out of the east at 8 and 11 mph. Temperatures tonight will drop to 75 degrees under partly cloudy skies.

The sweltering heat and rain is expected to stick around on Sunday.

The chance of rain on Sunday is 50 percent, the weather service said. Temperatures will reach about 91 degrees with a heat index of 103 degrees. Sunday's low will be 76.
