</title><link>http://marconews.com/news/2008/aug/27/fishing-report-fays-effects-giving-way-great-fishi/</link><description>The big question in most fishermen’s minds this week is how the local fishery is recovering from Tropical Storm Fay, and the answer is a surprisingly positive one.

</title><link>http://marconews.com/news/2008/aug/26/anglers-outlook-fishing-and-more-activities-septem/</link><description>Southwest Florida anglers continued to find some productive fishing on most all fishing fronts up to the time Fay paid us a visit. It is a good bet, weather permitting, our fishing and catching will have improved by the time you read this article. Some fishing spots will be better than others.

</title><link>http://marconews.com/news/2008/aug/13/anglers-outlook-when-it-comes-grouper-ratios-remai/</link><description>Southwest Florida anglers continue to find productive fishing on most all fishing fronts. Our offshore waters, from 60-feet out, have and will continue to offer some nice size grouper intermingled with several species of snapper that include mangrove, lane and yellowtail. The trick of it all is finding keeper size fish. Naples Fishing Club member Ray Russell sums it all up in his recent e-mail.

A bold statement to be sure. But if you have doubt as to the veracity of the axiom, ask another family member about their fishing trip at the lake or down here, in the salt, last year.

</title><link>http://marconews.com/news/2008/aug/06/bow-new-column-boat-safety/</link><description>The information I gathered visiting the post-storm sites in the wake of Hurricanes Charley and Wilma, and speaking with marina personnel, is what I have used to form my surveyor’s observations on how to secure boats for a storm.

</title><link>http://marconews.com/news/2008/jul/30/anglers-outlook-catches-past/</link><description>August has arrived and weather permitting Southwest Florida anglers should be able to find some decent fishing on most all fishing fronts. Our inland waters will more than likely have the biggest challenge for success due to the high content of fresh water and debris that will continue to be flushed out from inland areas.

He had valiantly fought the big fish for more than a half hour, using all of his skills to land the tenacious behemoth and certainly didn’t anticipate the fish’s sudden surge under the boat that severed the line.

Karen Cleveland can talk about the one she didn’t catch, but still ended up in her fiancée’s boat. “My fiancée, Andy Singer, and I are avid fishers on the waters of Marco Island,” she says. “Well we were in for quite a fishing trip recently.”

This is the time of year that the “passion” runneth over for vacationers from everywhere who make it a complete holiday by electing to tow their boats, big or small, here and have a go at our piscatorial opportunities.

</title><link>http://marconews.com/news/2008/jun/12/hook-gill-nets-trying-come-back/</link><description>It’s really hard to believe. The Florida Fish and Wildlife Commission, having acquiesced on their entrusted responsibility toward the people of Florida, will, this very week, allow the commercial “fish annihilation interests” to once more try to gain approval for using gill nets anywhere they want. They are trying to gain approval using a loophole definition of net size. Lots of history here.

</title><link>http://marconews.com/news/2008/may/29/hook-what-gets-way-fun/</link><description>We all know that sportfishing should be all about fun. Plain, unadulterated, flat out frolic with a fish fighting for all it’s worth on one end of the rod and you on the other end doing the same thing. It has to be ranked as one of the top personal sporting thrills, after all it’s what brings you back to the water time and time again.
