English Pub plans special St. George's Day dinner

Posted April 21, 2008

The English Pub, at 2408 Linwood Avenue in Naples, has a splashy event planned for St. George's Day. St. George is the dude that killed the dragon and is the titular patron saint of England.

The pub is planning a five course dinner, complete with wines to match each course.

There's an appetizer (prawn cocktail), soup (roasted leek), fish (pan-fried Dover sole), entrée (Beef Wellington, what else) and marmalade sponge for dessert.

I went last year and there's plenty of wine to go around; the staff are more than happy to top off your glass.

Cost is $34.95 and recommendations are a must. The main English Pub number is 239-775-3727; the Web site is naplesenglishpub.com.
