Mel's Diner in San Carlos Park closed Sunday
Posted April 21, 2008
The first of the regional Mel's Diner locations has closed.
Mel's Diner in San Carlos Park closed Sunday and its employees notified, according to a press release. The closure is blamed on declining sales sparked by competition in the central and south Lee County area. The restaurant's closure press release notes that 50 restaurants have opened within four miles of the San Carlos Park location. Major commercial centers nearby, which also feature restaurants, are the the Gulf Coast Town Center and Coconut Point mall.
The Mel's Diner locations in Bonita Springs and Fort Myers remain in operation under other ownership and not expected to be affected by Sunday's closing.
