It's a jungle in here ... in Silk Jungle that is

Posted March 11, 2008

If you are like me those silk plants that are so great, no water, no care...get tired looking and need to be replaced. I went into Silk Jungle this week and found some beauties.

It is owned by Heather England who by coincidence is from England! She has had the store about two years and has a master designer named Cynthia Kirst who does an excellent job with all the floral arrangements. Some people just don't know what they want or need so Cynthia will come out to your house and take pictures and dimensions then go back to the store and make your silks to custom fit the space. If you like you can bring in a swatch or pillow to match colors with, as they have hundreds of loose floral stems to choose from. I saw unusual stems and even pheasant feathers that by the way were very reasonable, ten feathers for $20.

They have a lot made up already for those who want to see it NOW! There were wall sconces, ledges and many beautiful arrangements. She does a lot of tropical arrangements as those are the most popular. Cynthia said the red and oranges seem the most popular as those colors fit into the tropical scene very nicely.

There were beautiful topiaries and all kinds of "life like" trees to choose from. Heather carries the taller trees to go in the newer homes with sixteen foot ceilings. The plants are of better quality and look very real, she said you can put them out on your lanai if they are under cover. Ever see outdoor silk plants that turn blue? Well, Silk Jungles won't do that.

Silk Jungle is located in Bay Crossings next to Robb and Stuckey at 26251 South Tamiami Trail in Bonita Springs. Phone:495-7515. Hours are Monday - Friday 10-5 Saturday 10-4 Closed on Sunday. They also have a store in Naples at 9853 Tamiami Trail North, Phone 597-5545.
