It is the most beautiful cake and cookie shop ever! I stumbled across this shop this week. The Funky Flamingo Cake and Cookie Shop is owned by Gail Meter. She has been here two years, she is the owner, baker and decorator. Her daughter Samantha is a designer-decorator. Everything is made fresh on the premises. What talented ladies! Everything on her cakes are edible. It takes her a minimum of four hours to make a cake and her mermaid cake took sixty hours to put together at a price of $3,000. I saw pictures of the cake, it was phenomenal!

She has two picture albums full of all of her creations. It is hard to believe that you can eat everything on the cake. One tier cake had seashells on the top and all around the bottom you would swear they were real shells instead of made of sugar! She hand colors the designs on the cakes. Another tier cake was decorated with hibiscus flowers in deep rose color, the top layer was held up with palm trees all around the bottom layer, again it looked so real, even the palm trees! She is amazing.

Gail makes custom cakes for all occasions. She sells mostly birthday cakes and can make any cake you can dream up! Wedding cakes are popular too.

She also bakes fresh cookies and cupcakes everyday, but they are usually gone by 2. She arrives at 5:30 every morning working on orders. Even when the shop is closed you can find her in the kitchen baking away. Also you can order custom cupcakes using your imagination, Gail will come up with something.

I liked the cupcake with a lady inside an inner tube on top. Great for a pool party! She does hand made chocolates and wedding favors too.



You can order sheet cakes, double layer round cakes or double layer square cakes. She even makes 3-D cakes! They come in many flavors and many fillings. Seasonal treats are also available such as pumpkin rolls or pies, pecan or apple pies, assorted gift wrapped cookie trays and brownies or lemon bars. She even bakes business card cookies.

She won the Taste of the Town award this year for the best dessert in Fort Myers with her with her pineapple orange cake.

She needs the minimum of 1-2 weeks for orders and 3-6 months ahead to order a wedding cake.



This is truly the best cake shop I have ever seen. I've been to a lot of them, when my daughter and I were searching for her wedding cake we covered them all. So call Gail for the most beautiful custom cakes for all occasions.

Prices start at $45. I think I gained two pounds just looking at these babies!
