My friend Helene ... who is NOT a shopper but did good this time ... alerted me to a HUGE and I mean HUGE sale at JCPenney in Gulf Coast Town Center. I went in to check it out yesterday ... WOW! There were racks and racks of all kinds of clothes for the whole family for $4.95 for each item ... this is not a typo ... $4.95!!
I don't need anything ... but this is what I came out with! A cashmere sweater that had been $88. Yes, for $4.95. A really cute jacket in that popular green that you see everywhere that had been $60! An Izod cable sweater in a beautiful shade of blue, and another one in red, white and blue stripes. A glitzy red top complete with a narrow belt that had a rhinestone buckle to wear for Valentines Day; a soft, white, fuzzy sweater; a couple more black tops to wear now; some warm-ups; and a pair of black tights ... ALL for $4.95 each!!
In the men's department, I found name-brand shirts for my husband that had been either $45 or $60, also, at an unbelievable $4.95 ... I can't stand to pass up a bargain, so I picked up five of these!! Dress shirts and sport shirts. Got him a really cool sweater at the same price. There were lots of sweaters, tees, golf shirts, casual wear--even saw some hooded Polo sweat shirts for that low price!
There were racks all over the store ... I should have had lunch sent in!! Too many racks of dresses to go through at $14.95 ... I would have been there all night!! More racks of slacks of every description and skirts and tops, jackets and sweaters. It was overwhelming!
In the children's department, I found a darling dress that had been $45 for my granddaughter for $3.95 and a cute tee embellished with sparkly stones for only $2.95! She will love it!
It is easy to store all the winter merchandise if we don't get another cold snap as all that I bought was basic and won't go out of style. But there were a lot of things that you could wear right through our hot summer months.
There were sales throughout the entire store. Racks in the intimate department of p.j.s and robes--$4.95. Bras of all colors were buy one, get one at 50 percent off. Children's shoes were buy one, get one 50 percent off. Shoes for women, $6.95 and up, high-heeled leather boots, $19.99.
Luggage was 50 percent off with a great selection of different brands including Samsonite.
The housewares had placemats at 50 percent off. Great white porcelain plates, cups and bowls that were square--all half price at $4.99 each. The tropical, green plates with a leaf design were also half off, as well as Cris Madden Villa Ancona dinnerware. Some neat wood plates, and Dublin, lead, crystal glassware, both at 50 percent off. I bought a 40-ounce glass teapot with four mugs that came with six flowering teas ... FUN! It had been $40. You guessed it ... $4.95!! A beautiful collection called Calyposo glass with shell mosaic trim, 50 percent off. Bling case for your iPod and bling buds, fits all iPods, were 75 percent off.
Jewelry department had several tables starting at $1.95--belts, scarves, slippers. Just about every department you wandered through had something on sale. Sparkley purses were $4.95, other purses were 30 percent off.
I haven't seen a sale like this one. I totaled my bill at the regular price and it came to $809. I paid $77.40 for two bags that I could hardly carry!!!
So get on out there while there are still bargains to be had! Right on Helene ... good tip!
P.S. I went into JCPenney's again yesterday and all those bargains I told you about that were priced at $4.95 were marked down to $1.95!!!!
