The Savvy Shopper

Shopping-101

Posted November 21, 2007

Every year on Black Friday my sister and I start out early ... 4:30 a.m. is our goal. She picks me up and we wonder who in their right mind is up and heading out to shop at this un-Godly hour? The answer ... EVERYBODY!

Once we get to 41 there is a steady stream of cars heading for the stores. Are we all nuts? Sometime I wonder ... it is mostly women but there are a few nutty men out there too!

For an early bird start for the sports people on your list, Sports Authority is open on THANKSGIVING DAY from 9-3. What's with them? They don't watch the Parade and get stuffed? With turkey that is. After all it's family day!

Another Thanksgiving Day opening is K-MART from 7 a.m. to 9 p.m.!!! And get this ... WalMart is open ALL day on Thanksgiving ... around the clock ... 24 hours!

Target's holiday hours are from Nov. 18 to Dec. 23, 8 a.m. to 11 p.m. They will be closed Thanksgiving Day but open on Nov. 23 at 6 a.m. to 11 p.m.

QVC Miromar Outlet will open at MIDNIGHT on Fri. the 23.

Edison Mall is open early on Friday Nov.23 ... doors open at 5:00 a.m. !!!

Coconut Point is also opening early on Nov. 23. Doors open at 6 a.m.!!

You will have to wait until tomorrow to find out what all the bargains are when we wake up to find a two ton paper on our driveways!! It takes most of the day and a shopping list to figure out where you want to go. I can promise you one thing ... YOU WON'T BE ALONE!!

I'm getting too old for this ... so while you are out there fighting the crowd, the Savvy Shopper will be on beautiful South Beach, relaxing by the turquoise surf with my beautiful granddaughter!

My sister will have to find another side kick this year!

One fun thing to mark your calendars for is on Tuesday, Dec. 4 there will be an old fashioned Holiday in the Park and annual tree lighting from 5 to 9 p.m. In Riverside Plaza on Old 41 in Bonita Springs. Mr. and Mrs. Santa Claus will arrive by horse and carriage. There will be a mountain of real snow for the kids, and kiddie train rides. Several bands with music of the season on stage and refreshments. You can enjoy complimentary cookies and cider. They suggest to bring lawn chairs.

Enjoy --- Have fun shopping --- and best of all --- HAPPY THANKSGIVING!
