The Savvy Shopper

SAY HELLO TO VICTORIA'S PLACE!!

Posted November 8, 2007

Oh my gosh I had sooo much fun today at Victoria's Place ... I didn't want to leave!! When I entered the door I was greeted by the owner, Victoria and her sweet southern drawl welcoming me. I could listen to her all day!

When I told her I was the Savvy Shopper she shouted, "Hey! The Savvy Shopper is here!!"

They all dropped everything and came to greet me! Such a fun group of women working there. This is what Southern hospitality is all about!

I should first tell you about Victoria, she is a very vivacious, talented artist, thinker, and doer, full of fun and energy!! You can't begin to believe all the beautiful things she has designed and made.

Everything is one of a kind and FABULOUS!!! She hand-paints on cotton, washable sweaters and jackets, and designs purses to match some and even decorates the hangers to match the garment!!!

She also designs shoes to match some of her creations all in leather. There are about eight different shoe designs ... DARLING! She will custom a design for you! Sizes run from small all the way to 3X.

She has a big coffee bar inside and insists you sit and have a cup of java and some of her home-made goodies. She also loves to bake, and brings in fresh baked cookies, cakes, etc., each day. Where does she get all this energy? She is so excited about everything she does. She is a delight to be around. It rubs off on you!!

It is a destination shop, off the beaten path, but one you definitely want to go back to! The shop is done in red, green and mustard. Sounds weird but it all works.

She has her sweaters tastefully arranged in groups with all the pieces that go together. A black and white table that is very elegant for any fancy occasion. A group painted in metallic, some with dragon flies and butterflies, Poppy's and flowers. Those painted with woman's faces and flowers are must haves!

I also loved her whimsical palm tree designs, and fish -- don't forget the fish! Each sweater has something painted on the back, too. There were colorful sunflowers and abstract designs in fun colors. Cocktail hour? She has some with grapes and wine bottles! I could go on for pages, but have to tell you about the others.

Nancy is one of their jewelry designers with outstanding pieces. She goes all over to get her beads and has the most unusual Kazuri beads (the Swahili word for small and beautiful) made in Africa from Kenyan clay. Not rustic beads as I would think, but modern, polished, very beautiful in awesome creations! The Raku hand rolled and fired beads come in all bright colors that I loved. But the best part is the way Nancy put them all together ... PRICELESS! One of a kind ... no one will have one like yours!

Diana is the knitter and makes beautiful shawls, we decided to call pshawls! Some made with metallic yarns and beads. She also knits belts and scarves, trims socks for the golfer with style! There was a gorgeous silk triangle scarf that she added some glam to! Then there is Anne, she is the right-hand man! Does a little of everything!

Victoria sells her one-of-a-kind clothes all over the U.S. and Canada. She is such a hoot, says she paints all her clothing with 1" paint brushes from the hardware store and buys tons of muffin tins to mix the paint from thrift shops ... I love this girl!

You just have to go there because it is so hard to tell you how great this little shop and the designing women inside are!! I will personally guarantee you will have a blast at their "We're All Back" Celebration Party with fashion, food and FUN! It is all happening Nov. 15 and 16 from 12-6 p.m.

The Savvy Shopper won't miss it!! Bring your friends for a fun, fun time! And see some great fashions!

Victoria's Place is located at 3690 Bonita Beach Rd. in Bonita Springs. (Just before Rhodes Store and Restaurant) Phone 498-3107. Tell the girls The Savvy Shopper sent you! It's Fabulous!
