A BEARY GOOD AFTERNOON....

AT BUILD-A-BEAR!!



I often wondered why all these kids came out of Build-a-Bear with those great big smiles...well, I found out. You first pick the body you want and there is a wide selection form cuddly bears,cats, puppies to turtles, the TRICERATOPS - is dino mite! Even found Cat in the Hat, Shrek and Cody Maverick from Surf's Up!

Once you choose the "body" you stuff it with all this fluffy stuff. Then it gets a heart. Now you must clean your character at the fluffing station that looks like a miniature bathtub with a shower. No water though...it's pretend!

Now she or he is all built and you must choose from the two bazillion different outfits to get him or her all "dolled" up!

This is like a regular store for kids....there are dresses for any occasion, $10.-12. shoes to fit that occasion $7. and of course sunglasses...who could leave home without sunglasses? They are $4. Purses are $6. wigs, cell phones...yes! for the bear!!

There are jackets for the cool evenings, sports outfits for all the teams, fishing outfits complete with the pole! Don't forget the fireman, police and even pirates! They run from $12-15.

Next comes the accessories...it depends who cries the loudest to who gets what! There are pup tents if your bear fancies camping or dog houses and kennels, even cars for the bear!! Baby sleepers, $8. strollers and high chairs!!

Can you imagine all this stuff.....a whole store full....just for a bear!!!

Finally after all your selections are made you check out and receive a birth certificate for you bear. They are packaged in big boxes and out the door! Sometimes bigger than the kid!

The beary first build-a-bear opened 10 years ago in St. Louis. Now there are over 300 stores. Build-a-bear is recommended for age 3 and up.
