Naples and Marco Island Fishing Report

Sorry I am late, but had a little vacation, now back to fishing

Posted March 29, 2007

The wind has calmed down the last couple of days which is making things easier. The first part of the week we were fighting very gusty East winds. If you are going to have wind East is probably the most manageable. Fishing was still good with lots of people catching Snook and Redfish. Last nights trip was very good. We fished from 8:00 pm till midnight and caught lots of nice Snook on flies, the largest was 30 inches down to a respectable 20 incher. The River side of Marco and Capri seems to be holding the larger one's. Lots of Big Jack Crevalle to catch also. They don't eat real well but they put up a heck of a fight. Fished a couple of Plug casters night before last and they did very well also. Talying a couple of big Redfish and some nice Snook on my special poppers that I have made in Japan. I haven't jumped any Tarpon this week but they are starting to show up in the bays along deeper Creeks on the inside. I understand down South they are everywhere you look. Winds look like they are going to pick up for the weekend but should be manageable. Don't forget Saturday at Mackle Park Temple Fork Outfitters Day. will be showing the full line of fly rods and will have advanced casting instruction. Sunday April 1st is another CCA Redfish Tourney out of Calusa Marine in Goodland. Registration is at 6:30 am and take off at 7:00am. Hope everyone comes out I will be fishing in this one, so i hope to see you their. Good Casting Roan z.
