The cool down is here winter fishing to follow.

The great thing about living and fishing in Sunny Naples and Marco is that even when it is cold and frosty we can still get out and catch some fish and we don't have to drill holes in the ice. I have done that before in Minnesota and it is just not my cup of tea. Well anyhow. If you are looking for Snook you have to fish the deeper cuts in the creek bends they will be holding tight so make sure you slow everything down. The Tarpon, give them a little time if the water temps go back up which a lot of time is the case they will be available to us again but in very limited numbers. This week you need to concentrate on fishing the deep channels adjacent to flats were the Trout, Pompano, Redfish, ladyfish, Jacks and other species will be ganging up. The other good news is you do not have to get out at the crack of dawn to catch fish. The afternoons are usually better fishing this time of the year.
The snook lights around Naples and Marco should also still be productive if you can stand the chilly night time temps. Fished the Naples lights on Sunday catching about twenty Snook to 28 inches and other species like Bluefish, Trout, Ladyfish, and Jacks lots of Jacks. On Monday we Fly Fished way out in the Everglades in a small two man Peenoe, found lots of nice fish and even managed to land a few. My angler caught Snook, Redfish, jumped a couple of Tarpon, and a couple of nice Bass. There seemed to be quite a few large Snook cruising around on the Marshes out there. These places are difficult to get to and if you have never been there please be careful venturing into these waters, I have known lots of people that have gotten lost and had to spend an uncomfortable night.
